This morning 8th graders had the privilege of watching a naturalization ceremony live from the National Constitution Center. Today is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day and applicants across the country took the oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and become U.S. citizens. It was a beautiful ceremony with 27 countries being represented.

Class shirt order forms are due by September 20th! This year PTO has decided to transition “Track and Field shirts” to “Class Shirts!” The goal with this change is for each student to have their shirts for the whole school year. Our students will then be able to wear them for a variety of days such as; Track and Field Day, field trips, special assembly days, and other school events. Each grade level will continue to have its own shirt color, but we will not be printing school years on the shirts. Our hope is that this will make it more cost-efficient for families with multiple children, and that these shirts can be kept and reused for younger siblings. We hope that families can understand our reasons for this transition and welcome your feedback. Thank you- Highland Elementary PTO

Teacherease Communication Preferences 101: Parents - Did you know you can customize your communication preferences in your parent portal by going to Miscellaneous>Communication Preferences? This allows you to choose the notifications you receive from the Teacherease system, and across which platforms. You can set low-lunch balance notifications, as well as specify hours during which you do not want to receive notifications. Don't like all the pop-ups? You can choose to disable them by unchecking the box that allows the system to send you messages. If you are using the portal from your phone you can find these same options by going to More>Communication Preferences.
