Parents of High School Students that are enrolled in all virtual classes for first semester and finishing virtual classes this week.
This is a reminder that the semester ends next Friday, Dec. 18,2020. Students must have all work completed by that time to earn credit for the class. Additionally, students will not be allowed to enroll in the virtual learning option if they are not passing or have not completed all eight classes they are enrolled in. Please contact the high school office on Monday if you have any questions.

Updated Quarantine Protocols: LCC1 has adopted the shortened (now 10 days) quarantine timeline, with an ability to "test out" of quarantine after a minimum of 7 days in quarantine ONLY IF the person quarantined has no symptoms & gets a negative test on either day 5,6, or 7!
Attention Highland High School Parents:
We will have a schedule change for grades 7-12 due to finals Dec. 14-18th.
We will have brown attendance day kids attend next week for finals on M/T.
We will have gold day attendance kids attend next week for finals on W/TH.
The finals schedule will be M/W Odd hours take finals: 1,3,5,7 and T/TH even hours take finals: 2,4,6,8.
Wednesday will be a full day and Friday will be a shortened day and students who have passing grades will not need to attend.
This is to allow students to attend 2 consecutive days for finals.
Students that have failing grades instead will attend the day of their finals and Friday.
If your student is failing a class and was on the list to attend 5 days per week as identified after Thanksgiving, they will attend 3 days next week.
If they are brown attendance day students they will attend M/T and F.
If they are gold attendance day students they will attend W/TH and F.
Please call the office if you have questions about any of the schedule changes above.
Reminder: Highland has a full mask mandate in place. Anyone planning on attending the board meeting tonight must wear a mask at all times while in the school building - open session starts @ 6pm.

Students in grades 7-12, who have been virtual for 1st semester and are wanting to return to in person learning 2nd semester, need to contact their school counselor to request a schedule for 2nd semester. We would like to have your schedule finalized before classes resume January 4.

Highland will be back to in-person learning tomorrow as announced last week, but we will also have all bus routes running on schedule! HHS is still in the Hybrid model, with students who have an F attending all 5 days. HES will continue in a normal schedule! #GoCougars
Wagner Portrait Group will be at HHS next week for senior composites, underclassmen retakes, & fall/winter sports pictures. Gold day senior composites & retakes will be Tuesday, 12/8. Brown day senior composites & retakes will be Thursday, 12/10. Retake forms can be picked up in the office. Fall/Winter sports pictures will be Thursday, 12/10, and will be taken after school with our first group starting at 4:00p.m.. Athletes will need to show up in uniforms and ready for pictures. Coaches will be contacting their players with individual group times.

On Saturday, November 28th the Highland Jr High Student Council held a 5K Run/Walk event to raise money for a local family. The event was a great success! People participated in person at Wakonda State Park, and others chose to complete their 5K on their own. Together, $2556.00 was raised and donated to the Stark Family to help with medical expenses and other financial needs. Thank you to all community members who participated and supported our event!

UPDATE: Based on current information, we fully expect to be back to "in-person" learning at Highland starting Monday (12/7) with HES in a full normal schedule & HHS in the Hybrid Model as we were before today. Keep your fingers crossed & stay tuned in case COVID changes things.
