HES Art Club took a trip to Culver-Stockton College to visit the art department and ended up touring almost the entire campus. It was an exciting educational experience that the students enjoyed! 🎨




Congratulations to Shon Stark who at the CCC track meet on 5/1 broke the school shot put record with a throw of 52'11.50"!! Way to go Shon!! Good luck to Shon and the rest of the Cougar track team as they compete at districts on 5/6 at Putnam Co. GO COUGARS!!


May Day fun at HES!


HHS SADD holding a MOCK car crash for HHS students this morning. Emergency vehicles and first responders are reporting to the HS for this learning experience.




The Junior High Spring Dance will be held this Saturday, May 6th from 6-9PM at HHS. Doors will open at 5:30PM for pictures, with lights out at 6PM. Tickets will be pre-sold this week by JH Student Council Officers. They are $5 each. There will be snacks and drinks supplied at the dance. Congratulations to Highland Freshman Chevie Sharpe. On April 6 at Palmyra Chevie broke the school record for the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.85.Chevie then eclipsed her record on April 11 at the Jerry Ball Relays with a time of 1:00.36. Congratulations Chevie and good luck to you and the rest of your team at the CCC meet on 5/1 at Macon and the district meet on 5/6 at Putnam Co. GO COUGARS!!


On Saturday, members of Drama Club had the opportunity to spend the afternoon at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis to watch a performance of the musical Wicked! As always, our students represented themselves and their school very well!

Mrs. Johnson's First grade had a great field trip day! We toured the Central Fire Station, had lunch at South Park, and visited Legacy Martial Arts to wrap up the day! Thank you to the Quincy Fire Department and Legacy Studio for a great day!

Eighth Grade students recently had the opportunity to listen to Chief Judge Micheal Gardner. Judge Gardner is the Chief Judge of MO Court of Appeals. Students learned about our court systems and were able to have Q&A time. Thank you Judge Gardner for your time!


BASEBALL SENIOR NIGHT: On Thursday, 4/27, the Highland Baseball team will host South Shelby Cardinals at 5:00 p.m.. There will be a Varsity game and JV game. The senior players and managers will be honored after the varsity game. Come out and support the Cougars!!!!

Students at Highland High School participated in a campus clean up day after school on Friday.


For the last few days 4th graders have been "paying taxes" just like the 13 Colonies did before the Revolutionary War. Today they held their own protest. Students sat on the ground to protest the tax they have been paying on their chairs.

Friend - Chip Grams : HES students in grades 3-6 may buy Friend -Chip grams to send to friends. Order forms have been sent home. These are being sold by Soar students as part of their unit in economics. All profits will go to the counselors to help students in need with clothing, food pantry, and school supplies.

Friend-Chip grams for grades 3-6 at HES will be accepted through next week, May 5th. Deadline has been extended due to next week's MAP testing schedule. Let Mrs. Evans know if you heed an order form.

Soar students are finishing their straw towers this week. Their tower must hold a tennis ball at the top.


Mrs. Parrish’s STEM class has been working on robotics. Today, these robots delivered Smarties and positive notes to my office. Thank you!
