
Today, HES celebrated the PTO Candy Bar Sales, with a “Pie the Teacher Assembly,” celebrating all of the students hard work during the fundraiser. 38 students sold enough candy bars to “Pie a Teacher.”

Saturday's Schedule for the Highland JH Tournament will be as follows:
9am - Girls Consolation Knox vs. Clark
10am - Boys championship. Kirksville vs. Clark
11am - Boys 3rd Place Quincy vs. Knox
12 noon - Girls Championship Kirksville vs. Quincy
1pm - Boys Consolation Highland vs. Palmyra
2pm - Girls 3rd Place Highland vs. Palmyra
These changes are an effort to assist Clark Co and Quincy Catholic in getting to their quarterfinal football games on Saturday afternoon.

Over the last several weeks Highland FBLA has been collecting canned goods to donate to a local food pantry. Members went door to door to collect the food items.

Highland FBLA members went to Truman State University today with other District 3 FBLA schools. They competed in business trivia, minute to win it games, a campus scavenger hunt and checked out the planetarium.

Highland Cougar Basketball continues tonight as the boys play Marion Co. and Monroe City at their Jamboree to kick off the 19-20 season.

Robotics Club started tonight using the @MeetEdison robots. This crew was our first team. They started with the @Mindstorms_EV3 and are moving up to @seaperch later this year. Taught themselves the EdPy language today! #GoCougars #STEM #EdTech

A big thank you to Cory Bennett and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Dept for coming into 5th & 6th grade Counselong classes to share information on the dangers of vaping and the Fatal Vision Goggles.

1st grade learned this past week about how insect communities are much like our own communities. Thanks to local beekeeper Tom Stark for teaching us more about bee communities!

Mrs. Shrader’s class wrapped up their unit on shapes today with a 3D snack. Their favorite was the ice cream cones :) Thanks to all the parents who donated food! We also made shape monsters and brought in 3D shapes from home!

Mrs. Seals’ class harvested lettuce for the first time from the tower garden. All of the students liked it and are already looking forward to the next picking. Basil, chard, kale and arugula are still growing and will hopefully be enjoyed soon!

After the weather put a damper on our Veterans Day activities, HHS held a breakfast and program to honor veterans on Wednesday Nov. 13. Mr. Kyler Nelson was the guest speaker. He is a teacher and also a member of the Iowa National Guard.

Mrs.Schultz’s Kindergarten learned about 3D shapes and ended their topic by enjoying foods and drinks that were in a 3D shape (sphere, cylinder, cube, cone).
