Congratulations to Noah Jones and Drew Mallett. Noah’s 90 yard kickoff return and Drew’s 30 points both tied school records in the Cougars 48-19 victory of Putnam County last Friday.
Mrs. Gray's virtual Computer Concepts students need to check their school email accounts for a Classroom invitation. Assignments have been posted in Classroom.
The V/JV softball games scheduled for today at Bowling Green have been postponed until tomorrow Wednesday 9/2 due to weather. Varsity starts at 5pm!
Parents/Guardians: There have been a few requests, since learning of the recent quarantining of additional HHS students, asking if they can still change to the virtual option. We are checking into our options regarding the possibility of extending the deadline to making that determination and will share that in the next couple of days; however, the reality is that the situation may make that decision for us. If an extension is to be granted, the last day to Opt for such a change would be amended to Friday at 3pm of this week. Again, this would be a semester commitment and it is not possible for students to go back and forth between being in person or virtual. If the district closes and utilizes distance learning or goes to a hybrid model, that does not cause students to lose their ability to participate in athletics/activities; however, opting for a virtual learning enrollment does remove the option for students to participate in any school activities.
Parents/Guardians: Highland High School did have an additional student become identified as a positive COVID Test result today, which has led to PRECAUTIONARY quarantines of 32 more students. Please know that the district is working with health department and continuing to monitor the situation closely. It appears that we may be headed for a change in the instructional delivery method. We are trying to protect the school year, athletics, and activities from being shut down; however, we can’t do it without the support from all students, staff, parents and guardians. Please keep sick ones home, especially if their symptoms are consistent with those associated with COVID!!
Reminder: Varsity softball will play first at 5pm tomorrow 9/1 at Bowling Green and the JV game will be played second.
Those planning to attend the V/JV softball games at Bowling Green tomorrow 9/1 need to bring lawn chairs as there will be no bleachers available for visiting fans. Please remember to practice social distancing and masks are highly recommended!
