UPDATE: We have added a Ewing location to our list of community partner WiFi locations (https://bit.ly/38grCvj) available during distance learning. See schedules & email to setup a time to be there. REMEMBER: wear a mask & only attend if you have NO signs or symptoms of COVID!
The JV boys basketball game scheduled for tonight at Kirksville is cancelled due to a Covid exposure at Kirksville. Reschedule date is pending.
Reminder that there will be no JV girls game played tonight at Kirksville. The boys game has been moved to a 6pm start. Only one spectator per participant is allowed and you will be asked to sign in at the pay gate. GO COUGARS!!
Reminder: While in distance learning, students can still visit our community partner WiFi locations (https://bit.ly/38grCvj) according to the posted schedules. Just call to setup a time to be there & remember to wear a mask & only attend if you have NO signs or symptoms of COVID.
High School parents please remind students to check each of their google classrooms tomorrow for assignments, google meet times or new announcements. This is the first day of the semester for all students. Progress will be checked on 1/22/21, if students have a failing grade in any class at that time during a hybrid learning model, they will be required to attend all 5 days of the week beginning on 1/25/21. If your student is having difficulty please contact the teacher of that class. Tutoring after school will still be available. The community sites will also be open for assistance this week. If you are a new student to the district or have questions in regard to scheduling, classes or otherwise. Please contact the high school office.
LCC1 will be in Distance Learning for the remainder of this week. Due to road conditions, there will be no meal deliveries during this week. The expected plan would be to return to "in-person" learning on Monday 1/11/21 depending on COVID impacts throughout this week.
HHS students who attend Votech will still be transported to and from Hannibal this week under the already established procedures for Votech students.
The Kirksville vs Clark County Girls game will be broadcast on the NFHS network tonight -- game time was changed to 6pm with the cancellation of the Highland vs Scotland Game. Watch here: https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/highland-high-school-ewing-mo/gamd38b114a48
Due to a Covid-19 exposure the Highland vs. Scotland Co girls game scheduled for tonight at the Highland Tournament is cancelled. The Clark Co vs. Kirksville girls game has been moved to a 6pm start time.
LCC1 will be closed Monday (1/4/21) due to icy road conditions. The gravel roads & in town roads are mostly ice and some of the lettered roads are patchy. This will be a conventional snow day due to the timing of it being the scheduled 1st day of 2nd semester, so this day will need to be made up. With temps expected to reach 38 degrees tomorrow, the Highland Tournament games are currently still on as scheduled.
Reduced Quarantine Times Reminder/Clarification: LCC1 did adopt the shortened (10 day) quarantine timeline for individuals who never exhibit any of the symptoms during the 10 day period. Additionally, those with no symptoms during quarantine can test out early (7 days minimum), but ONLY IF they have a negative test within the 48 hours prior to getting released. This means that to be released after day 7, there still can be no symptoms & obtaining a negative test result from day 5,6, or 7! Negative tests prior to the 48 hour window preceding the "hoped for" day of release from quarantine do nothing to reduce the quarantine time!
LCC1 is under a Mask Mandate - remember this was required to allow for the relaxed quarantine rules at school! Please Review the following Mask Mandate Reminders: https://bit.ly/37vCZOj and make sure you & your children are properly masked when at school to assure less quarantines from school. See https://bit.ly/2KPpEbN for a graphic on how proper masking modifies quarantines due to exposure at school during the school day. Exposure outside of the instructional school day does not qualify for the relaxed quarantine rules!
Parents/Guardians/Faculty/Staff: Please do not attend school or school events if you cannot honestly answer NO to ALL of the questions in the current/updated DAILY WELLNESS CHECKLIST for attendance at LCC1: https://bit.ly/33SGygD. This form was updated at the end of November, so please understand that if you are exhibiting ANY of the symptoms listed, you should not attend school events.
Reminder: the option to elect for the Virtual Option for 2nd semester is available for students who demonstrated success (completed & passed all coursework) during first semester while in Virtual or for students who were “in person” learning during first semester, but now wish to switch to virtual. In order to make this designation, Parents must complete the SURVEY (https://bit.ly/3rSthib Link to Survey) and submit a signed CONSENT FORM (https://bit.ly/3q1bMeH Link to consent form) by Friday, January 8th, 2021. **Also, electing to be Virtual or In-Person is a semester long commitment. Please contact your attendance center/counselor tomorrow if you have questions.
Current plans are to be “in person” for school tomorrow (1/4/21); however, road conditions will be evaluated this evening to determine if a change to Distance Learning will be needed or not.
LCC1 will return in the same learning instruction models (HES regular, HHS Hybrid). With active county cases still in the 70’s and the anticipated spike due to family gatherings over break, this will be the case for the foreseeable future.
Due the adverse weather conditions the JV/V boys basketball games scheduled for today at Louisiana are cancelled.
The JV/V girls games scheduled for today vs. Kirksville have been cancelled due to Kirksville’s reluctance to travel due to the pending weather. If the games are not rescheduled those who purchased tickets will be made aware of the refund process.
